Rollapaluza gurning 2

The last round of Rollapaluza's hugely successful Winter roller-race league saw the action return to the Half Moon pub in Herne Hill, London.

The final event saw the two dominant racers of this season win the event on the night and the overall standings....however once again competition was intense with battles for the minor places and as is usual for Rollapaluza events plenty of first time racers.

Round four results

More roller-riding action this weekend....

Abus Super Chilly kids helmet

Abus Super Chilly child's helmet
Price:
£29.99

Whatever your stance on the wearing of helmets by adults, I've not met many parents who don't put their kids in one. This makes sense for a number of reasons: kids fall off more, and when they do they're not likely to be going faster than the 12mph test limit for most lids. The helmets you could buy used to be fairly perfunctory affairs but they're getting better all the time, and the Super Chilly is a great example of what you can get for your money these days.

Road.cc verdict:
Not a cheap kid's lid, but very well made with a host of good features

8

An Irish bike shop owner known across the country for his love of cycling and his links with champion rider Stephen Roche has died aged 89.

Joe Daly founded and ran the bike shop which bears his name in Dundrum, Co. Dublin. The premises moved three times but the reputation of the shop never wavered.

Stephen Roche told the Irish Times: “I have a monument to myself in Dundrum, but Joe was himself a monument there. He did a huge amount of good for cycling.”

Commuting in Bristol © Jonny Gawler

Land in Bristol that has been 'difficult' to acquire will be compulsorily purchased to improve cycle lanes and routes through the city.

Bristol City Council agreed to push ahead with the purchase four parcels of land at the rear of Berkeley House in Lawrence Hill, at Bath Road, and Station Road in Brislington and at the Kingsland trading estate in St Phillips. The amount of money being spent on the four sites was not disclosed at the meeting but the money will come from existing budgets.

Landowners will be bought off by under-fire council
